Today, I slept until the afternoon. Because I was very hungry when I woke up, I asked my friends to accompany me to go to a late lunch in Santana Row. The restaurant I picked this time is Pizza Antica because I thought pizza is one of the most authentic Western foods. Pizza Antica offers Roman style pizzas, which are usually thin crusted. They make sure that the dough they use to make the pizza is chewy and crispy by checking it three days earlier. They also offer Italian style appetizers and pasta. It is indeed one of the best restaurants in Santa Row judged by the queue of the customers. For lunch, I ordered the Prince Edward Island Mussels as the appetizer, Spicy Fennel Sausage Portobello Mushroom and Roasted Onion Pizza, Spaghetti with Tomato Coserva, Garlic and Basil, and Fisherman’s Style Linguine with Clams and Chorizo.

I really enjoyed the food and I can feel that I am already get used to eat this kind of food. In the previous posts, I talked about how Western food made me feel fatter. Surprisingly, when I weighed myself today, I found out that I lost 5 pounds. It was very strange because everyday I kind of feel load up after eating Western food, but the fact is that I lost weight. I began to feel that the carbohydrates and the fat that I got from the Western food is nothing compared to the ones in Asian food. I am guessing that the amount rice I gave up in 13 days so far is what's causing my weight loss.
Even though rice has a lot of nutrients, the carbohydrate content could be converted to glycogen or fatty acids if not used, which are later stored as body fat. So eating a lot of rice is not beneficial at all. However, rice is the food that I grew up with. So giving up rice is not that easy even though I began to get used to the Western food.
